My name is Paola Mariani and I’m a freelance translator. I work from English French and German into Italian (plain alphabetical order). In addition to these language combinations, I am also a member of a network made up of native-speaker colleagues who translate into and out of their respective languages. This allows us to satisfy a wide range of needs with a lean organisation and no fixed costs.

I have been doing specialised translations in various subject areas (see link) since 1989, first within several companies and then as a freelancer. My translations have also been published (including articles in trade magazines for the paper industry, articles for cultural magazines, and the recent publication of two manuals on building construction by a prestigious publisher). My clients are primarily Italian and foreign translation agencies who provide their services to small, medium and large businesses. I also work directly for clients and trade associations.

My mission is to provide my clients with linguistic consulting through expert assistance and translation services in particular, needs that require long years of experience and solid training rather than work that is hurriedly thrown together by poorly qualified providers as so often happens, unfortunately, in the translation industry. As for prices, I charge the same rates for all languages and services and I do not apply surcharges for urgency or require a minimum amount. In any case, I am willing to negotiate with my clients in order to come to mutually agreeable terms.
